Introduction

     

  1. Speech input button.
  2. Speech input language options.
  3. Exit ViaTalk app
  4. Interpreted texts display area.
  5. Speech reception status.
  6. Finish the speech and return to the main screen.
  7. Pause/Restart the speech input.


Note:
  1. You have to connect ViaTalk USB device to computer. After it automatically launches ViaTalk PC software, connect to your phone via an audio cable and launch ViaTalk App on the phone. When there's a [Already connected, you can start to talk now] message showing on the ViaTalk PC screen, you can begin to use. You may also press the function button of the phone and tap [Connect Test] to check the connection status between your phone and PC.
  2. About ViaTalk PC version software, hardware, UI, settings and more functions, please refer to ViaTalk PC Quick Guide.
  3. If your mobile broadband has limited data quantity, please change the network setting to WiFi to make the recognition process faster and to prevent the data quantity beyond the limit.
  4. If the phone is connected an audio cable, when the application is launched, it will automatically set the media volume to the loudest level. To avoid data transmission errors, please do not set down the volume. When the App is closed, the volume will be automatically set back to the original setting.
  5. Some of phones have the power saving mechanism, it will be turned on when the battery level left under 15%, this may cause the issue of transmitting the data. Please ensure your battery has enough charge during using ViaTalk.

Dictation

While opening ViaTalk app, you will see the renew reminder. You can click [Watch me later] and finish the setting of your mobile phone first. Next time you open the app, you can click [Watch now] and follow the guideline to renew ViaTalk's connection cable so that the product can well function.

 

According to the difference of Android systems, ViaTalk v2.0 version offers two modes for Android systems to use: General Mode and Input Method Mode. The system beyond Android 4.0 can be switched into Input Method Mode and the General Mode is available for the system below Android 4.0. The following part will introduce General Mode and Input Method Mode:

※General Mode


  1. Launch a text editor.
  2. Click [Dictation](default) of ViaTalk PC software .
  3. Tap the language list on the phone's screen to select the speech input language.
  4. Tap the microphone icon on the phone's screen to start the speech.
    Tip: When there's a icon, it means the application is waiting for your speech. The screen will show when you are speaking, this means the application is receiving your speech. If it shows , this means the application currently stop to receive your speech and is interpreting, please wait for a second. When the interpretation is completed, you can start to speak again.

  5. It will show the interpreted text in the text editor after your speech, you can also see the result on the text area of the phone's screen in the mean time.
  6. If you'd like to change the speech language or exit the speech page, please tap [Finish] on the phone's screen, it will return to the main screen.
  7. If you'd like to pause, you can tap [Pause], the icon will become . If you'd like to speak again, please tap [Restart], you can start to speak when the icon becomes .


    8. Tips:
    About the buttons on ViaTalk PC UI, please refer to the following list:
    , delete the text.
    , enter a space.
    , undo the last action.
    , enter a new line.
    /, full shape/ half shape.
    , the application provides you many notations to input, you can see more notations in the drop-down menu.

    Note: Android system will interpret the sound of the notation into the text of the notation's name. For example, if you pronounce "comma", it will be interpreted to the text "comma". You can click , go to [Settings] of ViaTalk PC and check [Convert specific symbols], the application will interpret the pronunciation "comma" into ",". About the notation pronunciation, you can refer to [Symbol/Command list].


※Input Method Mode

1. Enter ViaTalk app, the system will ask whether to switch into ViaTalk Input Method. Please click [Yes] and then click [Set up input methods] below the option to enter [Keyboard & Input Methods].

   

2. Select ViaTalk Input Method and return, the system will ask again whether to switch into ViaTalk Input Method. Please click [Yes] and choose [ViaTalk Input Method].  Then, all the settings will be completed.

   

3. Launch a text editor and click [Dictation] function of ViaTalk PC software. Then, click the microphone icon shown on the phone's screen to conduct input process, so the interpreted text can be delivered into the computer. You can also click language list button on the top to switch the language you want.



Note: ViaTalk Input Method can only be used in ViaTalk's app.

Translation


  1. Click [Translation] of ViaTalk PC software .
  2. Tap the language list on the phone's screen to select the speech input language.
  3. Select the translation language on the ViaTalk PC software.
  4. Tap the microphone icon on the phone's screen to start the speech.
    Tip: When there's a icon, it means the application is waiting for your speech. The screen will show when you are speaking, this means the application is receiving your speech. If it shows , this means the application currently stop to receive your speech and is interpreting, please wait for a second, when the interpretation is completed, you can start to speak again.

  5. The interpreted texts will be showed in the input and translation text area of ViaTalk PC, you can see the interpreted result displaying in the text area of the phone.
  6. If you'd like to change the speech language or exit the speech page, please tap [Finish] on the phone's screen, it will return to the main screen.
  7. If you'd like to pause, you can tap [Pause], the icon will become . If you'd like to speak again, please tap [Restart], you can start to speak when the icon becomes .


    8. Tips:
    1. You can also directly type words in the input area, ViaTalk will translate your words.
    2. About the buttons on ViaTalk PC UI, please refer to the following list:
      , delete the text.

      , paste texts to the application after the mouse cursor.
      , clear all of the texts, including the translation texts.
      , copy all of the input/translation texts.

    Notes:
    1. Android system will interpret the sound of the notation into the text of the notation's name. For example, if you pronounce "comma", it will be interpreted to the text "comma". You can click , go to [Settings] of ViaTalk PC and check [Convert specific symbols], the application will interpret the pronunciation "comma" into ",". About the notation pronunciation, you can refer to [Symbol/Command list].
    2. Click to clear the input text area, translation will also be cleared. You can click to copy texts and paste to other software.

Settings

Press the function button on the phone and tap to go to the speech setting page.
Press the return button on the phone to return to the main screen.

※Recognition Setting:

 

※Auto Transfer to PC:  Once the Auto Transfer to PC function was cancelled, the Dictation screen of General Mode will show [Send] and [Clear] buttons. After all the speech was recognized, please click [Send] to deliver the interpreted result to the computer. Click [Clear] will delete all the interpreted results.
