FreeWriter provides Chinese writing pad for you to learn and appreciate Chinese characters via the handwriting input function. Moreover, you can choose different Chinese output to recognize Traditional or Simplified Chinese characters so as to increase your writing efficiency. To quickly share your ideas with others, FreeWriter also allows you to paste your written words on different apps.

Editing Toolbar

/ Clipboard / Restore: Click [Clipboard], all the words in Editing Area will be copied and able to be pasted onto other apps; click [Restore], the text will be restored.

Mail: Automatically open [Mail] and put your written text into e-mail.

Clean: Clean all the words from the editing Area.

Setting: Set [Chinese Output] and learn more information about FreeWriter.

Editing Area

You can view the recognized results and the complete text in this area.

Assistance Toolbar

Candidate: Provide possible candidates for the word that had been recognized from your handwriting.

Delete: Click [Delete], you can delete the words ahead of the cursor or the selected words and the handwriting on the writing pad will be deleted as well.

Enter: Click it to start a new paragraph.

Space: Insert a space.

iPhone keyboard: Switch to iPhone's keyboard.

Handwriting Input Area

Tips: If you want to change Keyboard Language in the Input Method, please go to [Settings]/ [General]/ [Keyboard]/ [Keyboard]. You can delete any language's keyboard by clicking [Edit] on the top right of the screen. Or click [Add New Keyboard] below to add more language's keyboard.

Note: The Chinese writing pad can only recognize Chinese characters.

Using FreeWriter

1. Start to write Chinese characters in the Chinese writing pad.
   
2. During your writing process, the system will recognized the handwriting synchronously. The recognized character will appear beside the cursor.
3. Choose the right character among the candidate options to complete your text. You can also click another candidate to replace the one that had  been selected.

   

    

   Tips:
   • There is no time limit for completing a character so you can leisurely write every stroke of the characters. If you stop writing, your handwriting will cease. Once you added a stroke, the system will automatically renew the candidates of the recognized character.
    
   • You can go to [Settings]/ [Chinese output] and choose the output as [Traditional character], [Simplified character] or [Traditional+Simplified].
   • Click to clean all the words from the editing Area.

    

4. Click to copy the text and the editing area will be cleaned at the same time.
5. Open the apps (e.g., Notes, Reminders, Calendar, Messages) that you need to paste the text on.
6. Tap the editing area and select [Paste].

   

    

   Note: When you copy the text, Text Area will be cleaned simultaneously. If you want to restore the cleared text, please click . Also,  [Restore] function is only effective before writing a new character. Once you wrote it, the former cleared text can't be restored anymore.

Return to menu

1. Click  in the editing toolbar to open [Mail] and start a new message.

   

2. The text in the editing Area will be sent to the e-mail automatically for you to edit.
3. Fill the contact's e-mail address and subject.
4. After finishing your editing, click [Send] to send your e-mail; if you don't want to send it, please click [Cancel] and choose to delete or save the draft..

Note: You have to setup Email account in the system setting before sending e-mails. Please go to [Settings]/ [Mail, Contacts, Calendars] to add an account. After adding an account, you have to click [Save] to confirm the added account.
